The
holy matrimony between Mr. Alexis Gbaamende and Miss Queen Sember, was
on the 18th at noon, solemnized at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral,
Makurdi.
In
the sermon, the officiating priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Abela charged the
couple to always recognize the fact that humans are not perfect, and
so, understanding should be their hallmark. The priest advised the bride
to always remenber that, as a Second Lieutenant in the Nigeria Army,
Alexis (her husband) may not always avail her of his presence due to his
tight schedules at work. As a result, she must be characterized by
absolute patience. On the part of the groom, Fr. Abela exhorted him to
always have the interest of Queen (his wife) at heart wherever he might
be.
Also,
the officiating priest advised the couple to be humble before each
other irrespective of the fact that they both come from well-to-do
families, and have also bagged degrees in academic pursuit.Similarly,
Fr. Abela advised families of both the groom and the bride to always
support them to build their home rather than break it with hate
speeches. He finally advised the couple to always let God lead their
decisions in all their endeavours so as to be blessed in their
matrimonial home.
Earlier,
members of the Nigeria Army (in their large number) made band beats and
matches which drove the entire congregation to edges of seats.
At
the reception which started by three (3) PM, members of the Nigerian
Army accorded the couple highest honour in the military by display of
sword crossing as well as presentation of awards from the Army Generals
and the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Also, the parents
of the couple honoured them by decorating them with the Tiv "Anger",
accompanied by gifts from invitees. Several words of advise to the
couple came from dignitaries in attendance. Some of them include: Iyuhe
Yua, Comrade Jumpa T. Emmanuel, Chief Samuel Sember Anatu, ASP Amanger
Gbaamende (Retired) and more.
