DEMOCRACY DAY: SPEAKER IKYANGE FELICITATES WITH PRESIDENT BUHARI, GOV. ORTOM, OTHERS

Rt. Hon. Terkimbi lkyange, Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, on
behalf of Principal Officers, Members and Staff of the Assembly, warmly felicitates with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, members of the National Assembly from the State, Benue State Governor, Governor Samuel Ortom, his Deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu, Chief Judge, Justice lorhemen Hwande, members of the State Executive and Security Councils, Traditional Rulers, Party Leaders and the entire people of the State on the occasion of the Second Anniversary of the Ortom administration and Eighteen Years of uninterupted Democratic Rule in Nigeria.

There is no gain saying that the last two years of the All Pragressives Congress, APC, led administration, the Country has witnessed rapid re-orientation in her core values of transparency, accountability, social justice and hard work which are key to nation building.
Despite the paucity of funds, the administration of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has recorded some landmark achievements as evident in the on-going Rural Electrification Projects, renovation of over Seven Hundred Primary Schools, construction of Rural Roads and Bridges, provision of Health Care Facilities and Agricultural Inputs to boost large scale farming, total renovation of Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi and that of Health Technology, Agasha, among many other life changing policies and programmes.

All these giant strides would not have been possible without the Governor's firm stance on accountability, transparency, openness and committed leadership that is anchored on the fear of God.

Your Excellency, the recent passage of the bill to prohibit Open grazing and the bill to prohibit abduction, Hostage taking, Kidnapping, Secret Cult and similar activities In the State represents your administration's strong will to guarantee the security of lives and property of all Nigerians residing within the confines of Benue State.

l assure you on behalf of the State House of Assembly of our sustained support and cooperation in the years ahead, so that together, we will ensure good life for the greater majority of our people, whose mandate we hold in trust.
