MY DAYS IN SCHOOL Written by Abia Blessing Chioma

Oh mama, I cried!
Setting on benches of a creche
and crying all alone!
My teacher looked at me
Smiles and Pat me
On my back and consoles me
Telling me words to calm me

Sitting on the benches
of nursery class
with an exercise book.
Drawing the known
and the unknown
Playing and chatting
with friends in class.
Asking meaningless
questions and waiting for answers

On my desk in primary stage
Sitting quietly
Staring quietly
at the teacher
revealing the miseries
of her lesson
I was watching her with high hopes
and thinking of been like her
Emulating her was
what kept me going.

Oh secondary school!
What a pleasure you are?
In you, I started to think
How to actualize my ambition
and be a success.

Oh university!
The highest stage
Of schooling age
Trying to avoid deception
Of time and frustration
I will focus and strive
 unto my ambition
Until that piece of paper
Is handed over to me
On my graduation.
