Covid -19: Benue Index Case Moved To Abuja

By Ukan Kurugh
The Benue Covid -19 Index Case Susan Okpe, 62, has been evacuated to the Isolation Centre at the National Hospital Abuja.

Her evacuation follows a request, which was approved by the Honourable Minister of Health and addressed to the Chief Medical Director Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) Makurdi Prof Terrumun Swende.

According to the letter, which I sighted, the evacuation is "necessary so as ensure proper management and in order to put to rest controversies and panic surrounding her case as well as the need for absolute containment of the Covid -19 in Benue State."

Benue State Deputy Governor Benson Abounu and the Chief Medical Director Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Makurdi, were mandated to "facilitate her seamless movement to Abuja."

With her evacuation, the Isolation centre at BSUTH no longer has Covid -19 case. It is understood that the centre will be furmigated as soon as possible.
