Benue State Executive Council has placed total ban on public gatherings. 


According to the Commissioner of Information Rt. Hon. Ngunan Addingi who briefed the press after the State Executive meeting said :


1- A gathering of over 50 people will not be allowed.


2- All shops and supermarkets must ensure that those coming in wear facemask and have water and soap with which to wash their hands or sanitizers to use.


3- Schools are going to be  opened on the 18th January 2021.


4- Attendance to churches/mosques must not be more than 50 people.


5- Bars and restaurants will Operate partial services - only takeaways.


6- Only Seven people will be allowed in a bus , while only the okada Rider and a passenger will be allowed on motorbikes.


7- Schools will be strictly monitored to maintain and observe all Covid-19 protocols. Those with large numbers will stagger their programs to ensure students and pupils are not over crowded.


The Benue State University, Makurdi will resume on the 18th as planned and have already broken down their schedule.


8- There is an outbreak of cholera in the state and Government has enjoined all living at the river banks and Benue citizens not to use contaminated water . Over 25 deaths have been recorded.
