JOHN TSUWA VINDICATED AS LASIEC DISQUALIFIES MAKARFI FACTION'S CANDIDATES, AUTHENTICATES SHERIFF'S

As the July 22nd Local Government/

Local Government Development Areas election the Lagos State draws
near, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC has
said the only authentic candidates that will be recognised for the
forthcoming council election in the state are the one produced by
Otunba Segun Adewale-led State Working Committee.

Segun Adewale is the State Chairman of the Ali Modu Sheriff-led
faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Adewale, made the revelation this morning with journalists today at
the PDP State Secretariat, Shogunle, Lagos. He said the Lagos State
Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially recognised
the State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led
by Otunba Segun Adewale as the true representatives of the party. This
decision has finally put to rest controversies surrounding the party's
presentation of candidates at the polls.

The factional PDP State Chairman commended LASIEC for abiding by the
decision of the Appeal Court. "Now that LASIEC has finally recognised
us as the legal representatives of the PDP in Lagos, I wish to assure
our members and the good people of Lagos State that we are going to
the Local Government polls as one indivisible element ready for
victory. Lagosians like all other Nigerians are tired of lies and
deceits from the APC and can't wait to demonstrate their tiredness at
the polls"

The Chairman encouraged aspirants misled into other political parties
to return to the PDP, he assured them of the party readiness to
accommodate their interest. According to him, there are vacant slots
deliberately reserved for aspirants that were sincerely confused by
the activities of some disgruntled leaders who were discretely working
for the success of the ruling APC at the LG polls. He, therefore,
appealed to such members to join in the ongoing effort at rebuilding
the PDP in Lagos.

"Our interest is to deliver the PDP back to the grassroots. We want to
see a PDP where grassroots members determine who get what at all
level, the era of imposition will never be allowed again in our party"
he stated.

Adewale insisted that the PDP is a party to beat at the grassroots in
Lagos State, alleging that previous election losses were occasioned by
sabotage. "I am confident of our victory at the coming LG polls. We
have succeeded at resisting efforts by some party leaders known for
their consistent sellout in previous elections. Our resolve to rescue
the PDP from these election traders is unshaken, especially now that
our members are beginning to appreciate our efforts towards
repositioning the party for victory in subsequent elections."

He assured Lagosians that the PDP is prepared to deliver purposeful
leadership at the grassroots if voted into office. "As a party, all
our candidates are true representatives of the grassroots. Hence, we
are confident that they will deliver the wishes of the electorates in
line with the manifestos of our Party when elected", he concluded.
